New Episode: Children in Action!

From recycling materials during World War II to wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, children have helped meet community goals during times of need.

In our new episode, Children in Action, K-5 students draw upon their observations and reflections to explore how children have contributed to recycling efforts in the past and present.

They investigate photographs of children collecting materials to recycle during World War II, analyze a letter from President Roosevelt encouraging the children in this task, and finally design their own "badge" in the style of badges the students wore at that time.

The episode is designed for K-5 children, and is accompanied by a Teachers Guide.

The Teachers Guide includes curricular connections to NCSS standards and the C3 framework. Additional primary sources, children’s literature, lesson plans, and resource guides offer suggestions to extend learning with classroom activities that connect to the episode.
