Labor Day is our yearly tribute to the contributions workers have made to the well-being, strength and prosperity of their communities and our country.

The importance of workers as community helpers is also a building block of civics understanding.

In the KidCitizen Community Helpers episode, children investigate who community helpers are, and how they have changed over time through exploration of a rich photograph (from the Library of Congress) of a man delivering ice to a schoolhouse in 1899.
